How do i password protect internet explorer on a windows 98 computer. I want to prevent my son using internet.
Answers:
Open IE, go to Tools => Internet options => Security =>Custom level => User authentication
Click on Prompt for user name and password.
There may be a way to do this that I am unaware of, but Windows 98 doesn't provide much in the way of safety. The only things I can think of would be to put a password into the cmos setup. This would lock him out of the entire computer. If you could upgrade to Win 2000 you could do it very easily. You could probably however put an unknown password on your ISP's login. This would keep him from the internet.
i believe you go to internet options and you should have options there, if that fails to work you can always remove the password that is used by your modem to log on which would mean you'd have to input the password whenever you wanted to log on.
