I have a buddy that has a mess of a pc, ie. spyware. any good FREE software?

best bet is format and re install. that will clear everything. then start again with a good anti virus, anti spy watre etc.
try having him use firefox as a web browser, that blocks a lot of the crap, also he's getting it from websites he visits, usually porn... have him find new sites with different crap in them
