How to remove the “protection bar” toolbar from my Internet explorer?

There is a nasty website called www.securetoolbars.com that installed a toolbar in my IE. I tried to remove the toolbar using spyware doctor, Spybot search and destroy and Kaspersky internet security but they couldn’t. How Can I remove it.

Hi there,

Unfortunately this "protection bar" is a form of the Trojan Zlob infection:

The best and easiest way to remove this is by installing the Free Trial of Prevx1. This will scan your PC and remove this and any other infections free of charge.
try panda internet security 2007 it makes all! u can do it yourself by reseting your internet options -->advanced or programs, and there u find where to mannage all the ad-ons!

still problem contact me i'll show you!
Under Tools Menu-Manage Add-Ons, look under the "Enabled" section and Disable everything.
Then under Tools Menu-Internet Options-Programs Tab- click Manage Add-ons and take a good hard look at what is Enabled. You can Disable everything that has a blank publisher and is a "Browser Helper Object"

Then restart IE and that should really clean things up.
I had the same problem as described above. Today i was downloading an application with the name Video ActiveX. Then I installed it and, I even ,without thinking further, let this applcation connect to internet. And there I was sitting with an infected computer.

The sympthoms I had:
*Annoying popups, and warning messeges
*Protection bar in IE that mey not be removed.
*IE startingpage will appear as securetoolbars.com

These sympthoms are also described on nosnoopware.com wich nic refered to above. However i realized that this site is fake and may couse harm to your pc. Why do I assume that? If you visit nosnoopware.com index page you will see that no links are working at all. I recoomend you not to trust this site.

The application i installed was a spywareprogram. I really dont know how much harm it can do but the popups where really annoying and slowng my computer down. The files were installed in C:\Program Files\Video ActiveX Object\ folder. The files inculded some .dll- and some .exe-files (including pmmon.exe). Also an uninstaller was installed wich would only restart the computer.

Try this:
1. Open 'Start' -> 'Search', and search for "pmmon.exe"
Now you may locate the folder with the spyware application.
Try to delete as many of the files of them as possible.

2. Then since the program was instaled with an installer it should work to run the 'sytem restore': 'Start' -> Accessories -> 'System tools' -> 'System restore'

Restore your sytem to a date before the spyware application was installed.

3. Run your anti-virus anti-spyware programs again.

Cant guarantee that this is working but it is worth a try and it seems to be working for me.
