How can I automate my web browser to perform repetitive web tasks?
Answers:
some of these are easier than others.
first of all, the best program to do this with is Mozilla Firefox. download it from:
http://www.getfirefox.com/
now, assuming you have this program, bookmark every page you want to automatically load. checking e-mail is easy (on yahoo, for instance, it would just be mail.yahoo.com ).
now, if a site requires you to log in (like e-mail), log in after you bookmark the site. Firefox will ask if you want to save your password - say "yes" (and make sure nobody else uses your computer while you have passwords saved). I would *strongly recommend NOT doing this* with credit card accounts and bills - Firefox is much better than IE with spyware, but it's much better to spend a few minutes doing it yourself, rather than risking identity theft.
anyway, after you have bookmarked all the sites and saved your login info, move the bookmarks (Bookmarks --> Manage Bookmarks) into 1 folder (say, "automated tasks").
then, go to Tools --> Options. below the "home page" area, click "Use Bookmark" and select the *folder* (say, "automated tasks") you saved all the bookmarks into. close and open Firefox, wait about 1 minute for all the pages to load (you might have to press enter to log in at various sites)... and every page should open up in a separate tab, logged in :)
(note: you can't pay bills this way, I'm pretty sure)
(and I don't know a way to record your web actions on the Internet, either)
(by the way this isn't a very good idea, now that I think about it - and it's a bit of a hassle to set up)
contact your browser manufacturee. duh
