Answers: It depend on what OS your are running - but the best bearing is to connect to your FTP server via "My Computer"
It essentially is a browser too, but I know for a fact that Vista Doesn't allow nouns to FTP via IE.
Here's how:
1. Open "My Computer"
2. In the Address Bar, type your ftp url: "ftp://myftpserver.com"
3. It should prompt you to enter username and password, if it doesn't right click the blank part of the pane and select login as...
4. When you login, you should be able to see your files on the ftp server.
*Note, connect via IE or My Computer is a unsafe style of transfering data, adjectives file are sent contained by "clear text" which means hackers monitoring traffic can potentially see your files. So build sure you don't transfer any sensitive information.

ftp://yourservername or ip or site address.tld/
tld = .com/.co.uk/.org etc... apparently only if its a website
You can download ftp from Internet explorer or Firefox. Here is one ftp site for you to try out.
ftp://mariah.ssc.wisc.edu/pub/stf704c/CP...
Since newspaper 7.0, IE can not upload files.
However, if you want to *upload* files you have to do it within Explorer (used for browsing your PC folder), not Internet Explorer (which is used for browsing the web).
If you right click on the folder from Explorer and select "login as..." you will be able to put your login details contained by and then you can drop files into the ftp site newly like any other folder on your PC.
As far as I know, that's unattainable. You can upload files from the FTP program to a host that you can visit within Internet Explorer...and vice versa. I could be wrong though, but I think the source you read that from could hold made a mistake. this site explains it in a paragraph

You can try the join I have provided surrounded by the sources. Or you can just download a program call SmartFTP. Its free and does the job. Here is the contact to Smart FTP : http://www.smartftp.com/. Don't bother. Download Filezilla

You need the site address:
For example within the Address Bar:
ftp://webpages.charter.net
When you hit enter, you log contained by with username and password, click scenery, Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer.
Then copy > Paste or click & drag files into the porthole.
To make a record the "Home" page, rename it to index.html
Then close the window and experiment out your site.
