I want to create a piece of software that will run from a disk using your default web browser. Continued…?

I’ve designed the pages using html and included flash content, however after I have tested it I’ve discovered that when using internet explorer 7 it displays a message saying “To help protect your security, Internet Explorer stopped this site from installing an ActiveX control on your computer.” And the flash content is inactive. And when testing in firefox it comes up with a warning saying “Adobe flash player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation. The following local application … is trying to communicate with this internet enabled location …”

The idea is that the software will be easy to use so I obviously don’t want these warning to come up.

Is there any way to prevent them from coming up? I don’t actually know what ActiveX is – is there anyway to remove it from the flash movies? Could I save the flash movie using an earlier version of flash (they’re currently saved as flash 6 documents) to prevent them from coming up?

Thanks, any help is much appreciated.

A yellow bar will appear at the top of the window. Click it and allow ActiveX to load. You can default it to accept ActiveX components, but that's dangerous and up to your target user.
No there isnt!
You see this happens when you try to load it locally to prevent users from installing viruses/spyware etc, when you upload this content to an ftp server and launch IEX and go to that location it works. But i understand you want to use it locally so what you can do is create a page before the page which loads the flash movie and automaticly redirect it to the flash page. Open that page and then it should just be fine. I didn't test it though so my excuse if it didnt work out for you.
