Answers:
Right click on toolbar, then uncheck "Links" menu item.
Tools, internet options, clear history.but it is still hidden elsewhere!!
I have had this happen to me before. The way I got rid of them was to do a system restore back to an earlier date when I knew they weren't there.

To do a system restore go to START - ALL PROGRAMS - ACCESSORIES - SYSTEM TOOLS - SYSTEM RESTORE and then follow the on screen instructions.

Other than that, if they are installed programs with links, then have a look in the "Add/remove" programs list, to see if they are there, you may be able to uninstall them.
Tools internet options delete files delete cookies clear history, content clear ssl state autocomplete clear forms.
Also go to your C Drive Windows Prefetch delete all thats there but not layout.
Then D/load ccleaner Adaware spybot eusing.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck.
